Survey of Italian Literature
Course Description
This course proposes a survey of Italian literature in order to establish a chronological and stylistic framework which fosters a deepened understanding of Italy’s literary core as experienced through the lens of poetry and creative narrative. This exploration of Italian letters reveals Italy’s role as a trendsetting leader on the global stage that is world literature.
We will:
Develop a thorough understanding of themes and genres pertaining to Italian literature
Reflect on our personal experience in relationship to Italian literature as a mode of personalizing the L2 classroom and enhance professional development opportunities
Engage in professional conversation regarding the merit of literature in L2 curriculum
Develop practicable curricular solutions for the implementation of an intentional literary element in the breadth of an L2 curriculum.
