Course Description

This course proposes a survey of Italian literature in order to establish a chronological and stylistic framework which fosters a deepened understanding of Italy’s literary core as experienced through the lens of poetry and creative narrative. This exploration of Italian letters reveals Italy’s role as a trendsetting leader on the global stage that is world literature.

We will:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of themes and genres pertaining to Italian literature

  • Reflect on our personal experience in relationship to Italian literature as a mode of personalizing the L2 classroom and enhance professional development opportunities

  • Engage in professional conversation regarding the merit of literature in L2 curriculum

  • Develop practicable curricular solutions for the implementation of an intentional literary element in the breadth of an L2 curriculum.
