Survey of Italian History
Course Description
This course, as a survey of Italian history, will seek to establish a framework for understanding Italy both synchronically and diachronically, insofar as Italy’s present is, in many ways, shaped by its past. The different eras merge to create an interlaced framework of Italian history and the events and epoques that have rendered Italy so very impactful in a global cultural and political context.
We will:
Develop a thorough understanding of universal themes pertaining to Italian history
Reflect on our personal curiosities concerning Italian history as a mode of personalizing the L2 classroom and enhance professional development opportunities
Engage in professional conversation concerning the value of history in L2 curriculum
Develop practicable curricular solutions for the implementation of an intentional historical element in the breadth of an L2 curriculum.
Course conducted in Italian.
